FEATURED ARTISTS AT THE FRANCIS
Bringing Portland’s Best to You
Portland has such a vibrant art community, and we’ve chosen to showcase some of the local talent here, in Maine, through a rotating gallery in common spaces at The Francis. Each exhibit will either feature an artist or subject from Maine.
Kerrin Parkinson
Kerrin Parkinson is an artist and illustrator living in South Portland, Maine. She loves spending time outside with her kids scoping out painting locations to create energetic sea and landscapes. Kerrin is an adventurous artist who loves working in many styles and formats, incorporating multiple techniques and approaches.
Mother Nature and specifically the ocean are often the subject of Kerrin’s artwork. She is awestruck by its beauty, strength and vulnerability. She feels empowered to share her appreciation for the esthetics and healing powers found in nature.
Kerrin creates plein air and studio paintings with oils and acrylics in various scales. She frequently layers using impasto with both palette knife and brushwork, always trying to capture fleeting moments of mood, color and light…
Kerrin’s illustration work is mostly digital, commercial illustration. She often creates her own hand drawn typefaces, assisting her clients in creating a completely unique brand. Kerrin’s illustration work is characterized by bold contrasts and saturated colors. Kerrin studies and experiments with design, typography and calligraphy and these artforms support and influence her illustrations.
